The classic literature course will be heavy on discussion and light on instruction. Novels, short stories and poetry will be selected for the student to read. Selections will be based on what colleges expect you to have read before entrance. Students will meet two times per week to discuss different aspects of the book such as, authors intended audience, the era it was written in, the style and purpose of the piece, etc… No written assignments will be given although it is recommended that the parents require a brief synopsis of each reading for documentation for annual portfolio reviews. The course will be divided into three six week segments. Each segment will cover either one novel or 3-4 short stories or several pieces of poetry.
Cost: $325 per semester (payments can be made as follows: $20 per week, $75 per month.) |
