Godly Women Don't Rock the Boat

Justine figured that Ken had to be a godly man. That's part of why she married him in the first place! You see, Ken was a pastor. And pastors were supposed to live life according to the Bible... weren't they?

Shortly into the marriage, Justine discovered pornographic magazines hidden in their bedroom. Still, Ken's ministry seemed to flourish. So Justine decided that God must be blessing the ministry despite Ken's shortcomings. Who was she to blow the whistle?

Over the years, Justine put up with the pornography. When her chidlren began to grow older, she noticed how harshly her husband treated them. But he never actually hit them... so she reasoned that it wasn't technically abusive. If she said anything, they could lose their ministry. So she remained quiet.

The children eventually grew up and left home. One day they described to their mother how difficult growing up with dad had been. They poured out their hurts to her. And she suddenly realized that all those years of protecting her husband had destroyed her children.

Justine has left and come home a number of times since then. She and Ken are still married, although Ken is no longer in the ministry.

Justine's fear of losing a ministry cost her her family instead. If she had intervened regarding her husband's sinful behaviors, her children and her marriage may have had a fighting chance.
